Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is a world unto itself on the luxurious Kohala Coast of Hawaii Island.
The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is a legend
twice over—for the hotel itself and for
its magnificent golf course. Noted as
one of America’s most architecturally
significant structures, the hotel and its
luxury accommodations are timelessly
stylish and comfortable, having set the
standard on the Kohala Coast.
There are 258 luxurious rooms and
suites at the hotel. Nearly one-third
of each room features a full-size bathroom, including a spacious anteroom
with separate vanity areas fronting the
personal spa. Inside, the soaking tub
and rain shower are bathed in natural
light. Beyond is the room’s second lanai.
The Beachfront Wing, just steps
from the sand and surf, has its own
surprise: a picture window view from
the tub through the room to the ocean.
What a water show!
The Mauna Kea graces one of
Hawaii’s most beautiful beaches—the
golden crescent of Kauna‘oa Bay—and
the ocean is a constant companion
for almost every activity. And Mauna
Kea’s new Beach Club has added to the
itinerary of ocean fun. Guests can now
joyride in a sailing outrigger canoe or
reserve a place in an evening group of
snorkelers. Guests don mask and fins
for an escorted cruise among Mauna
Kea’s resident manta rays.
The celebrated Mauna Kea Golf
Course’s third hole sports a drive
across rolling surf to a perfect green.
The course is a masterpiece of Robert
Trent Jones, Sr. and has been recently
refreshed by Rees Jones. The Mauna
Kea Seaside Tennis Club offers 11
courts along the coastline.
