Hilton plan calls for eight openings in Mexico

Hilton Worldwide is undergoing a major expansion plan in Latin America that
includes the opening of eight new hotels
throughout Mexico.
By the end of 2013, the company plans
to expand its presence throughout Latin
American with the opening of 14 hotels
and more than 2,000 rooms. Hilton currently has 54 properties throughout the
region.
In Mexico, by the end of this year, the
following five Hilton brand hotels will
have opened: the 259-room Hilton Puerto Vallarta; the 100-room Double Tree by
Hilton Merida; the 96-room Double Tree
by Hilton Mexico City Airport; the 102-
room Hilton Garden Inn Queretaro; and
the 90-room Hampton Inn by Hilton San
Juan del Rio.
“Hilton Worldwide is experiencing a pe-
riod of remarkable global growth, with the
industry’s largest global pipeline by rooms,
and Latin America is among our leading
markets for upcoming hotel openings,”
Danny Hughes, senior vice president of Ca-
ribbean, Mexico and Latin America for Hil-
ton Worldwide, said in a statement. “With
Osvaldo Librizzi, co-president of the
Americas for Starwood, said in a statement
that the property was “part of Starwood’s
aggressive expansion strategy in Latin
America marking the 71st Starwood hotel
in the region and the seventh in Mexico
City.”
And last week, Donald Trump stated that
he has plans to further expand the Trump
brand in Latin America, after opening the
Trump Ocean Club in Panama City, the
company’s first hotel outside the U.S.

Hilton Worldwide has more than 10,000
rooms throughout Latin America and has
already added more than 1,000 rooms to
the region over the last year.
In Mexico, they include the 125-room
Double Tree by Hilton Saltillo; the 120-
room Hampton Inn by Hilton Ciudad del
Carmen; and the 143-room Hampton Inn
by Hilton Guadalajara/Expo.
Hilton said the development pipeline
in Latin America consists of 20 confirmed
projects that will mean more than 3,000
rooms.
Beyond Mexico, the company said its
development plans include key cities and
resort destinations in Argentina, Brazil,
Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and Peru.
Hilton is not the only hotel company
with big plans in Latin America.
