When it comes to hit movies, plays and
TV shows, everybody loves a sequel. So
it’s no surprise Hong Kong tourism offi-
cials teamed up again with travel journalist
Richard Bangs for a follow-up to their Em-
my-nominated 2010 public TV collabora-
tion “Hong Kong: Quest for the Dragon.”
The new show, called “Hong Kong, Ma-
cau & Guangdong: Quest for Harmony,”
began airing on public TV stations across
the U.S. last month and, this time, takes
viewers to not only Hong Kong but also
two neighboring, less familiar destinations
in the larger Pearl River delta region.
As with the first program, Hong Kong’s
tourism authorities worked with travel
suppliers to craft a bookable companion
vacation itinerary for show fans.

The new show is the latest in Bangs’ Ad-
ventures With Purpose series, which in-
cludes 11 other episodes covering destina-
tions in Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and
Central America.
The Majesty of the Yangtze
In Guangdong, Bangs visits Danxia Mountain, a Unesco World Heritage Site, and
China’s spectacular Grand Canyon.

Experience the boutique lifestyle on our new EXECUTIVE DECKS
“‘Quest for Harmony’ marks the first
time that three Asian tourism boards have
united to both sponsor a nationally distributed TV show and develop a themed
itinerary based on the show,” said Bill Flora, U.S. director at the Hong Kong Tourism
Board.
“This echoes our belief that it is just not
enough to sponsor the … program,” he
added. “It’s essential to take the extra step
and develop companion itineraries that
allow consumers to experience the adventure for themselves.”
Executive Deck Program Includes:
Choice of 2 dining rooms or reserved window seating in the
main dining room (depending on vessel), Executive Lounge,
Concierge service, exclusive shore excursions with groups of 6
or more, complimentary “Happy Hour” before dinner with wine
and beer in the Executive Lounge, hot & cold drinks all day in the
Executive Lounge, reserved seating for evening entertainment,
private lectures by senior staff.

Yin and yang
The tourism board partnered with Hong
Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways
and Danville, Calif.-based Peregrine Travel
Group to craft a 10-night trip to all three
locations featured in the TV show. Airfare-inclusive prices start at $6,998.
The trips are designed to highlight “the
virtuous balance” between Hong Kong’s
modern cityscape and traditional relics;
Macau’s flourishing economy and historical Portuguese influences; and Guangdong’s natural landscape and booming industrial growth.
